We are so very proud of what just might be the finest cafeteria on any school or camp campus, anywhere! Our Pine Crest Food Services Coordinator purchases, prepares and provides only the finest ingredients and serves us the most delicious cuisine daily.
As part of your tuition, PCDC offers a balanced and healthy lunch, designed to accommodate even the pickiest of eaters. Meals are geared to the “likes” of most elementary school children. Sauces and gravy are always “on-the-side” and most foods “don’t touch each other.”
Examples of some of the entrees include Chic-Fil-A Brand chicken patties, pan-roasted natural turkey, California USDA grade hamburgers, spaghetti(with or without Stanislaus brand Marinara Sauce), grilled cheese sandwiches, chicken nuggets, Tyson Brand Crispitos, Dominick’s Brand individual pan pizza, subs, wings, macaroni and cheese, and baked ziti. These entrees are accompanied by side items such as potatoes (french fries, mashed or au gratin), rice and/or vegetables. In addition to the main meal, Sabretts Brand hot dogs are also offered every day. Sabretts are all beef hot dogs, with no by-products. All are California USDA. Desserts vary between ice cream, cupcakes, pudding, cookies and assorted fresh fruits. Drinks include milk, chocolate milk, iced tea, fruit juice (our juices are 100% fruit juice with no sugar added), lemonade and water.
PCDC offers two large and abundantly stocked salad bars, featuring three different assortments of lettuce: Romaine, Iceberg and Mesclun Blend. The salad bars are overflowing with a variety of fresh vegetables, croutons, shredded cheese, tomatoes, cukes, carrots, celery, hard-boiled eggs and plain tuna fish (our tuna is always a fresh Tongol tuna).
Occasionally, our chef surprises us with chicken salad, potato salad, cole slaw or fresh Waldorf Salad on the salad bar as well. Campers may top off their individualized salad combinations with Paul Newman salad dressings, Extra-Virgin Olive Oil, and/or Balsamic Vinegar.
If it’s a sandwich your child prefers, he or she will find a variety of Cusano’s Breads along the salad bar. Cusano’s is a local bakery, where our bread is baked fresh the night before. These breads contain no whey and no dairy, and include an assortment of multi-grain, whole-wheat, white, raisin, and seedless rye. These wholesome breads (and butter) are always available, and the ever-popular PB&J sandwiches stand ready for campers who prefer the more familiar lunch.
Counselors and campers dine together in our immaculately clean, three-sectioned, state-of-the-art dining room, complete with flat screen television sets and a separate dining and food-selection station that is the perfect height for our littlest campers.
A day at PCDC is full of activity and to keep everyone going at full speed, a morning and afternoon snack is offered in addition to a hearty lunch. Snacks rotate between an assortment of ice cream cones, pops, bars, Italian Ices, and cookies. Fresh fruit is always available for the asking and continues to be an increasingly popular choice among campers and staff.

With the large assortment and choices available, PCDC knows that we offer something for everyone. We do not allow campers to bring any food from home. Packed and special lunches are strictly prohibited.
We regret to inform parents that PCDC is unable to accommodate special diets due to allergies, does not operate a Kosher kitchen, and is not a “peanut free” environment.
As you can see from the preceding section, PCDC offers many choices for many palettes. The salad bars are stocked with whole fresh fruits, hard-boiled eggs, plain tuna, bite-sized fresh vegetables, peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, and plain bread containing no whey or dairy. With this vast selection, our campers are always able to find something to satisfy their hunger, no matter how limiting their preferences or diet restrictions may be.
