PCDC

At PCDC, we have an ever-evolving program which varies slightly from year to year. Because we seek out the most qualified instructors, we add and/or delete activities as these staff members become available. Whatever the itinerary, we promise that you will never be disappointed! We are committed to improving and adding to our activity offerings every summer.

All groups and all ages participate in nearly every activity offered. Our activities are made age-appropriate, geared with respect to age capabilities of our oldest and youngest campers.

A typical day…

The best part of being a Pine Crest camper is the diversity of each day’s schedule. No day is “typical,” because every day provides new things to do. Only the Morning Show, Friday Assemblies, lunch, and swimming are consistently scheduled.

Boys  and girls meet their counselors every morning in the PCDC Auditorium for the Morning Show and Morning Assembly. This meeting gets the day rolling with hilarious stage activities including both counselor and camper participation. When campers enter our Morning Show, they sense that here the fun is just beginning! Daily antics find the boys rivaling the girls, in a summer-long showdown to see which side will ultimately win the coveted, five-foot high “McLean-Pierson Trophy” at the end of the summer.

After the morning show, the groups dismiss from the Auditorium, and adjourn to their cabin to store their backpacks and take attendance. Then, they’re off to the first activity of the day. Each day includes three, four, or five scheduled activities, depending on the length of time of those activities. Our Scheduling Director tries to give each group a day full of mixed and varied outdoor and indoor activities.

How activities are scheduled

Unlike many camps that allow a youngster to pick and choose what they would like to do, Pine Crest Day Camp has a Scheduling Director who plans each day for all campers and staff. This method allows your child to experience the full variety of activities that PCDC offers. The campers remain with their particular cabin group, traveling from one fun activity to the next. Most periods are 45 minutes in length. We try to offer a balance of indoor activities and outdoor activities, with snacks served twice during the day. Most activities are offered on a weekly or session basis. Swimming is offered every day, weather permitting.

No child is ever “forced” to participate in any activity they have reservations about, but our counselors are experts in creating such enthusiasm that everyone wants to participate! Knowing all the adventures PCDC offers, our counselors have a gentle way of encouraging every camper to “give all the activities a try.” In this way, children really expand their day camp experience and acquire skills they never knew they were capable of.
